Synergy Credit Union Welcomes Trevor Beaton as CEO

Trevor Beaton, announced CEO of Synergy Credit UnionSynergy Credit Union is excited to announce the selection of Trevor Beaton as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2025. A seasoned credit union professional with over 26 years of experience, Beaton has a proven record of leadership in transformational strategies, fostering workplace wellness, and driving growth initiatives. His career has encompassed diverse areas of financial services, from wealth management to senior executive leadership. Most recently, Trevor served as Synergy’s Chief Innovation and People Officer, where he advanced digital banking initiatives and championed employee well-being and member engagement initiatives.

“On behalf of the board, we are thrilled to welcome Trevor as Synergy's new leader,” said Neil Carruthers, Chair of Synergy’s Board of Directors. “As we navigate this pivotal time and explore the province wide Together for a Thriving Saskatchewan partnership with Conexus and Cornerstone Credit Unions, Trevor's strategic vision and dedication to community engagement will be instrumental in creating meaningful opportunities for our members, employees, and communities.”

Trevor’s experience includes leadership of Synergy's digital transformation, which now supports over two-thirds of members through advanced digital engagement tools. He has also been a strong advocate for staff wellness, fostering a workplace culture recognized as one of Saskatchewan’s Top Employers for seven consecutive years. Trevor’s leadership embodies Synergy’s values of independence, accountability, and community involvement.

Human Resource Committee Chair Don Wheler added, “Following several months dedicated to a full CEO search process, we are pleased to award the CEO role to Trevor. He is an integral part of Synergy’s leadership team and has earned respect in the broader credit union system as a champion of cooperative financial services.”

Trevor expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating: “I am deeply honored to lead Synergy Credit Union at this transformational moment. Building on Synergy’s solid foundation, I look forward to collaborating with our talented team to enhance member value, embrace innovation, and strengthen our communities. Together, we will continue shaping a prosperous future for our members.”

Trevor succeeds Glenn Stang, who retires after 12 years of exemplary service as CEO. Under Glenn’s guidance, Synergy grew to $2.8 billion in assets and achieved significant milestones in member satisfaction. Reflecting on his tenure, Glenn stated: “It has been an incredible privilege to serve as Synergy’s CEO. I am confident that Trevor’s leadership will inspire continued success and bring new opportunities for our credit union and its members.”

With a Bachelor of Commerce degree, a Master of Business Administration from Royal Roads University, and a Professional Directors designation, Trevor’s expertise is rooted in both Saskatchewan's rural communities and his strategic vision for the credit union’s future. His history of community engagement, including advocacy for Truth and Reconciliation strategies and fostering partnerships with fintech innovators, underscores Synergy’s commitment to adapting and thriving to serve its members today and in the future.
