CATCH UP WITH THE CEO

There’s always something happening at Synergy—and staying connected matters. If you missed a message from Trevor, you can catch up here. And if you’ve got something on your mind, he’s never too busy to hear from you. Reach out and let him know how we can help.

A New Name, a New Leader, and a Look Ahead

By now, you’ve likely heard the news: the new name of our credit union has been announced as “Conexus Credit Union”, effective January 1, 2026. This name reflects the strength of what we’re building together across the province a connected, cooperative financial institution ready to meet the needs of members today and tomorrow.

We also welcomed the announcement of our new CEO, Celina Philpot, who will step into the role on the same date. Celina brings experience, vision, and a strong commitment to credit union values. I have full confidence in her leadership as we begin this next chapter.

We know you may be wondering what changes this will bring and when. Please know that as plans are finalized, we will communicate early and often. Keeping our members and teams informed and supported through any change is a top priority.

In the meantime, it’s summer in Saskatchewan — the season of golf swings, sunscreen regrets, and trying to fit in every festival before the leaves start turning. From lakes to rodeos, powwows to pancake breakfasts, there’s no shortage of things to enjoy (or eat) across our province. Each corner of Saskatchewan offers something unique, and I hope you get the chance to explore and support it all — preferably with ice cream in hand.

Of course, we know summer also brings challenges, especially in the ag sector. Unpredictable weather continues to make things difficult for many producers. That’s why it’s encouraging to see the Saskatchewan Government expand AgriStability for 2025 — added support that’s much needed this year.

As always, thank you for your continued trust in Synergy. Your support as members and partners allows us to keep delivering meaningful, community-focused financial services and that won’t change.

Enjoy the season, and we’ll keep in touch with more updates as the journey continues.

CEO, Synergy Credit Union

Spring is here. Fresh Starts and Bold Steps

There’s something about the shift in seasons that always makes me pause. The snow melts, the days stretch a little longer, and there’s a quiet sense of hope in the air. Spring is a fresh start. And for me, this season brings more than just the usual changes—it marks my first as the CEO of Synergy Credit Union.

Taking on this role is an incredible honour. I’ve been part of the Synergy family for a while and am proud of the roots we’ve built together in our communities. But now, we’re entering a season of change—not just for Synergy, but for credit unions across the province and around the country.

From global economic shifts to how we bank on a local level, change is coming at us fast. And yes, that includes the upcoming merger vote.

Let me be real with you—change can be scary. There’s a quote I love by author Robin Sharma:
Change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end.

We’ve heard concerns. Some of you have questions about what this merger means for our service, our technology, and that personal touch we’re known for. I hear you. I get it.

What I want you to know is this—our members will always be at the heart of what we do. That’s not going anywhere. But this merger also gives us the tools, technology, and stability to serve you even better. Think stronger online banking, smarter tools, and more services to help you reach your financial goals.

I encourage you to visit Together for a Thriving Saskatchewan to learn more about what this merger could mean for you.

Here’s the bottom line: the financial world is changing fast. Banks and credit unions across Canada are evolving to stay strong. Right now, we have the opportunity to align with partners who share our values, mission, and vision. But that window won’t stay open forever. This is why we have chosen to act now and recommend a merger with Conexus and Cornerstone Credit Unions.

I believe the best decisions come from being informed, and that starts with asking questions. I encourage you to be curious, dig into the details, and don’t hesitate to reach out to me or anyone on the Synergy team with your questions or concerns. We’re here to listen, support, and make sure you have all the facts.

As your CEO, I fully support this merger because I believe it’s the best path forward for our members, our staff, and the communities we call home. Change isn’t always easy, but the right change, made together, can unlock opportunities we’d never reach alone. I encourage you to learn more, ask questions, and make your voice heard.

Ultimately, this choice belongs to you, our members.

Your vote matters.

Talk soon,
Trevor
