CEO Message

March 13, 2020

To our members and communities we serve,

Synergy is continuing to monitor the evolving COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation.

The health and wellbeing of our members and staff are our top priority and we will follow the advice and recommendations of provincial and federal health agencies. We are working closely with employees to ensure that they have current information on prevention so they can stay healthy and stay home if they are feeling ill.

At this time, we understand that some people may have concerns venturing out, attending public events or going to public places. We also know that our physical branch locations could fall into that category. While we have always had strong cleaning practices in place, we are ramping up our efforts to ensure all common surfaces (such as door knobs, railings, counters, etc.) are receiving extra-special care (and disinfectant). In addition to this, we encourage more frequent use of hand sanitizers at our locations.

MOBILE AND DIGITAL BANKING OPTIONS

If venturing out is not for you, we would like to remind you that Synergy has a number of digital options available to help meet your financial needs:

  • Online banking offers many of the same services that you can access by coming into the branch, including paying your bills and making loan payments.
  • Mobile app works on most mobile devices, offering the most sought-after features of online banking, whenever and wherever it suits you.
  • Member Contact Centre representatives are available with extended hours to assist you with your banking needs by phone (1-866-825-3301), email (webmail@synergycu.ca) and by Live Chat.
  • INTERAC e-Transfer† is a quick and secure method to transfer funds. All you need is your recipient’s email address or mobile phone number to send money in just a few quick and easy steps.

BUSINESS MEMBER CONCERNS

For our business members concerned about a potential drop in revenue with people opting to self-isolate, we encourage you to contact our Business and Agriculture Financial Centre to discuss your options. Together, and with good discussion, we can develop a plan to help you manage potential impacts and continue to be a successful business.

FRAUD PREVENTION
Events like the coronavirus are often used by scammers to attain personal information from people who may be preoccupied. We encourage everyone to be extra diligent when receiving emails and texts with messages claiming to be their financial institutions.

Please consider this reminder that Synergy will never ask for personal information like Social Insurance Numbers, account information, or passwords by text or email.

COVID-19 UPDATES
We will continue to provide updates as they become available through on this webpage and through our social media channels.

We encourage our members to stay informed about the facts surrounding COVID-19 and recommend the following links to qualified authorities:

WE'RE HERE TO HELP
