CEO Message: June 25

Dear members,

I have received feedback regarding Team Synergy’s encouragement of members to continue to use our online banking options as our branches open to the public. Therefore, I thought I would share my thoughts.

Through these discussions, I am learning there are many products and services that members do not know we offer. Services like Deposit Anywhere, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Apple Pay, international wires, night deposit and credit cards to name a few. You may get a call from a member of Team Synergy, who will share information on many of the products and services we provide. We hope you appreciate these reach outs and find the service offerings convenient and effective. Thank you for all the business you do with us today and for your future patronage.
 

More and more members are asking for additional online transaction functionality to minimize their travel into our branches; Synergy is working hard to increase these services to its membership. To do this, it starts with having the right platform that allows Synergy to be more responsive to new opportunities introduced into the marketplace. Therefore, Synergy will be launching a new banking platform this fall. I am excited about the opportunities for new services that will come your way.

The financial service industry is changing fast. Like so many other industries, consumers are demanding faster cost-effective services to fulfill their needs. This is why the government is considering an Open Banking framework in Canada, which Synergy supports.

Open Banking allows members and bank customers to freely choose options and opportunities in the marketplace. One point of caution for members to consider, is that when you do not use the services of an intermediary, like Synergy Credit Union, you become fully responsible for your choices and actions. Therefore, when in doubt, feel free to call for advice. Team Synergy will be more than happy to address any questions or concerns you have before you make that final commitment. Your safety, the protection of your personal data and money, is our greatest concern. Remember, when your money has left your account it is tough to impossible to recover without the cooperation of the receiver.  

Last, always be cautious to your surroundings as COVID-19 remains very active in Canada. Please continue to eliminate non-essential travel, wash your hands often, maintain a physical distance of six feet and wear a mask when you believe physical distancing will be challenging to maintain. Your proactive actions to protect you and others are appreciated by me and everyone you encounter. Thank you for your continued vigilance.
